Pak University Explores Ties with SQU

In order to explore possibilities of academic and research collaboration between the two Universities, a delegation from International Islamic University, Islamabad, headed by its Rector, Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, visited Sultan Qaboos University on Thursday, 25 April 2019. The delegation was received by Dr. Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahrooqi, SQU Deputy Vice Chancellor for Postgraduate Studies & Research, Dr.Mohammed Al Suqri, Dean of Postgraduate Studies, and Dr. Khalid Al Balushi, Assistant Dean of Research.

The two sides discussed the potential of establishing cooperation between the two universities through research collaboration in basic and applied sciences and humanities, and through exchange of faculty and students. Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai highlighted the activities of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Basic Science at his University, which was established in 2014. The Centre promotes interdisciplinary research and provide a forum to connect scientists, researchers from various disciplines such as Biology, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Agricultural Sciences, Pharmaceutical and Medical Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Plant and Animal Sciences, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Genetics, Nanotechnology, Biochemistry or any relevant subject to Natural Sciences.

International Islamic University, Islamabad was founded in 1980 to produce scholars and practitioners who are imbued with Islamic ideology, whose character and personality conforms to the teachings of Islam, and who are capable to cater to the economic, social, political, technological and intellectual needs of the Muslim Ummah.
