Prof. Hadj Bourdoucen, Dean of the College of Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University, received in his office, high profile delegates from HUAWEI Technologies. Dr. Mohammed Al Badi (Head of the Department of ECE-SQU), Dr. Amir Abdulghani (Chair, IEEE Communications Society Oman and Community Service Committee of ECE-SQU) and Sayyid Dr. Samir Al Busaidi (Chair, Industrial Outreach Committee of ECE-SQU) represented SQU during the discussions with Robin Chen (CEO, HUAWEI Oman) and his team including experts in 5G communication technologies. Discussions were focused on forging ties between SQU and HUAWEI to establish long-term multifaceted links. A seminar was also given on 5G technologies by HUAWEI’s Ms. Chen Ling. This seminar was organized by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering for its staff and students. ECE students actively participated in this seminar and appreciated the knowledge gained from the industry’s standpoint.
