The 9th Engineering Forum organized by the Engineering Society at Sultan Qaboos University under the title “Engineering from another perspective" commenced at the Cultural Centre of the University on Monday, 8 April 2019 under the patronage of H.E. Mohsin bin Mohammed Al Shaikh, Chairman of Muscat Municipality.

The Forum features exhibition of 49 engineering projects by students from inside and outside the Sultanate. Out of the 49 projects, 26 are by students from SQU, 21 from different higher educational institutions in the Sultanate and 12 are from other GCC countries, Palestine, Iraq and Philippines.

Prof. Hadj Bourdoucen, Dean of the College of Engineering, said that the theme of the event “Engineering from another perspective” is particularly significant. The students have identified this theme to explore another perspective to understand and master the increasingly complex engineering systems with technological development. This other perspective would help the students to understand, analyze and develop the challenges of complex systems and thus contribute to find solutions to associated problems.

A series of seminars and workshops are also being held on the sidelines of the event. As many as 100 engineering students are attending the event that will last until 11 April. The forum aims at providing opportunities for students to expand their knowledge, exchange experiences and develop their abilities, in addition to strengthening relations between participating universities, highlighting the culture of awareness among engineering students, spreading the spirit of fair competition among them and gaining a lot of ideas during the seminars offered by specialists.
