SQU Organizes Conference on “Terms in Arabic: Issues and Prospects”
The fourth scientific conference of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature titled "Terms in Arabic: Issues and Prospects" commenced on Monday, 11 March 2019 at Sultan Qaboos University under the patronage of H. E Sheikh Khalid Bin Omar Al Marhoon, Minister of Civil Service.
The conference features about 50 papers to be presented in 10 sessions, with the participation of researchers from the Sultanate of Oman; from inside and outside SQU, and a number of researchers from Arab countries (Qatar, Kuwait, Tunisia, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Bahrain, Morocco, Syria, Algeria, Iraq) and Poland. The conference will last for 3 days.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mohammed bin Salem Al Mashani, mentioned the importance of the scientific terms in Arabic language that engage the researchers’ and scientists’ minds. He hoped that the outcome of the conference would provide scientific addition to the issue and enlighten the researchers interested in this area of the Arabic language.
The conference seeks to discuss the issues and problems of terms in Arabic language, sheds light on reasons that led to the emergence of these problems. In addition, it highlights the scientific efforts that address the issue of terms and shows the impact of previous discussions and conferences on topic. The conference discusses the impact of modern technologies and global efforts in solving the issue of terms and the issues of Omani terms and their prospects.
