SQU Delegation Concludes Its Visit South Africa

SQU delegation headed by H.E. Dr. Ali bin Saud Al Bimani, the Vice Chancellor, concluded its visit to universities and scientific, research and educational institutions in the Republic of South Africa. The delegation consisted of Dr. Yahya bin Mansoor Al Wahaibi, Dean of Research, Dr. Mohammed bin Zaher Al Abri, Director of the Nanotechnology Research Center, Mr. Abdullah bin Mohammad Al Shereiqi, Head of Life Science Unit, and Mr. Salahaldin bin Fadhil Al Sadi, Director of International Cooperation Office.

This visit comes to strengthen the distinguished research relations between SQU and various universities in South Africa that covers a number of research areas including desalination, agricultural and marine sciences. During the last five years, SQU collaborated with four prestigious universities in the Republic of South Africa. Four joint research projects have been funded by SQU and South African bodies. These projects were carried out by SQU and partnering universities and research centers in South Africa.

It is worth mentioning that the visit of SQU delegation to South Africa seeks to expand joint research to other disciplines and to enhance academic and administrative cooperation between SQU and South African research and educational institutions.

During the visit, the SQU delegation and officials of host institutions discussed the development of new areas of research in areas of common interest, including digital transformation, e learning, academic and student exchange as well as prospective collaboration in improving the Botanic Garden at SQU.
