Independent Learning Centre Workshop Concludes
The first workshop for 2019, organized by the Independent Learning Centre at SQU concluded recently. Dr. Majida Taleb Al-Hinai, Director of the Independent Learning Centre said that the 11 educational platforms established by the Center organize lectures and workshops in line with development plans in the Sultanate. She referred to the latest of these platforms, "Manufacturing Industries Sciences", in which lectures were presented by academics from the College of Science, the College of Engineering and the College of Agriculture and Marine Sciences.
Further, Dr. Majida mentioned the services offered by the Center, including the service of hosting academics to provide students with support in some courses, and the annual self-learning forums that the Center organizes about the labor market.
At the closing ceremony, Dr Galal Afifi presented a lecture entitled "Why is tourism in Oman?” He discussed the Sultanate's need to move towards tourism sector, and reviewed the objectives of the Omani tourism strategy. Dr. Galal also shed light on the presence of women in the tourism sector and their potential jobs for women in the sector. At the end of the ceremony, all the workshops’ participants held in 2018 were honored.
The Center held the last workshop on the role of small and medium enterprises in the tourism sector, which was organized by the Center's tourism science platform; it included four papers.
