The National Bioethics Committee held its fourth meeting under the chair of Dr. Ali bin Saud Al-Bimani, the Vice Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University (SQU).
The meeting discussed the documents prepared by the committee during the previous meeting and the recent updates from authorities concerned and the appropriate mechanism to benefit from them.
Further, the Committee discussed the developments in the organization of the 2nd International Conference on Bioethics to be held in 2020 under the title ‘Emerging Ethical and Legislative Issues in Biomedical and Research’. The conference will include themes related to legislative side in medical research, practices and innovations.
The meeting also discussed the proposals of the 9th intellectual forum, which is organized annually by the committee. In addition, it discussed the annual plan of the committee in 2019, including the completion of the ethical documents related to genetics and scientific experiments on animals and plants
