Dr. Ahmed Al Salman Elected as Fellow of TWAS

Dr. Ahmed Al Salman, Head the Department of Mathematics, College of Science, Sultan Qaboos University, has been elected as Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences for the Advancement of Science in Developing Countries (TWAS) at its 28th meeting held in Trieste, Italy on 27 November 2018. The selection was based on the merits of Dr. Ahmed Al Salman and his contributions to the advancement of science at the developing countries.

The main criterion for election as a TWAS member is scientific merit. Only those scientists who have made excellent contributions to the advancement of science in their fields of specialization and have attained the highest international standards and recognition can be nominated. Nomination of candidates for election can only be made by two permanent TWAS members. Dr. Ahmed Al Salman has published more than 52 research papers in international scientific journals and participated in many international conferences and symposia.

He has supervised number postgraduate theses. He is a member of the Editorial Board of Sultan Qaboos University Journal for Science, former editor of the Mathematics and Statistics Journal, Jordan, and arbitrator for several international journals in mathematics. Dr. Ahmed Al Salman has developed a general systematic method for understanding the Lp mapping properties of integral operators with rough kernels. The complete solution of Walsh’s problem in 1974 on Marcinkiewicz integrals is one of his breakthrough results.
