Career Guidance: SQU, Ooredoo Sign Cooperation Program
Sultan Qaboos University signed a cooperation program with Omani Qatari Telecommunications Company (Ooredoo), to enhance cooperation in the fields that related to directing and assisting students and graduates of the university in developing their employment skills and preparing them for labor market requirements. This will be achieved through the company's participation in providing and supporting guidance and awareness programs implemented at the university.
Ooredoo will provide consultancy services and technical support to the Center of Career Guidance in career guidance and employment coaching. This will be done through implementing four workshops during 2018, for the program "Starting Point for Empowerment of Women", a global program launched by the British Council with the aim of developing the skills of female students and graduates in terms of development self-empowerment and giving them confidence. The company also allocates (100) free seats for students and graduates of the university to participate in the program. The company's specialists will also participate in the presentation of the workshops on topics related to the required skills and preparation for the labor market.
On the other hand, the university represented by the Center of Career Guidance will provide classrooms and other spatial needs. This is to hold workshops and lectures for students. The Centre will provide all logistical facilities for conducting free on-campus recruitment tests and interviews.
The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Amer Bin Ali Al Rawas, Deputy Vice chancellor for Academic Affairs and Community Service, SQU, and Amaal Bint Hussain Bin Abdul Khaliq, Chief Executive Officer, Customer Experience at Omani Qatari Telecommunications Company (Ooredoo).
It is worth mentioning that the Career Guidance Center is the link between the university and various sectors of employment and placements, which organizes many events and programs in the field of career guidance, to educate students and graduates about the labor markets and requirements, and develop their skills.
